According to the 2006 Report Card, between 2004 and 2005...
- The number of homicide victims ages 7-17 dropped from 26 to 24 BUT
- The number of homicide victims ages 18-24 rose from 106 to 149.AND
- The number assaults inside public schools rose from 3,156 to 3,264.
- The chlamydia rate between ages 15-19 dropped by 13% since 2003
- 1,389 teens between 15-19 contracted gonorrhea in 2005-up 4%
- Out of home placements dropped from 7,896 in 2003 to 6.728 in 2005.
- Delinquent placements remained the roughly the same--1,797.
- 2,258 juveniles were arrested for drug-related offenses--a slight drop.
- 9th graders graduating in four years jumped from 54.6% to 60%
- 6,556 students took the SAT--up from 5,621 in 2003-04.
- As a result, the average score dropped from 808 to 799.
- After school development opportunities rose from 40,149 to 42,401.
