Mayor Street's Neighborhood Transformation Agenda
"Neighborhood Transformation" has become the watchword for a wide range of initiatives that the Street administration is undertaking to improve the quality of life in Philadelphia's neighborhoods.
As the Mayor put it in his March 31st, 2001 radio address, "shortly, my administration will unveil a comprehensive neighborhood transformation initiative that will include policies and programs designed to preserve and restore neighborhood vitality in the face of five decades of profound economic and social change. It will promote a new a new vision of 21st century Philadelphia communities.
"We will need creativity, cooperation and civic responsibility. Our success will depend on every citizen, every business, church, and charitable institution that cares about our city and region. This is a unique opportunity to rethink our neighborhoods and implement solutions that will make our communities more vibrant, exciting and desirable."
